Wood Pigeon - Columba palumbus

Can I eat you?

Wood Pigeon, Columba palumbus is the most common of UK pigeons. Apparently they are gradually moving into towns and mixing with Feral Pigeons.

These birds seem to eat an awful lot of plants, especially brassicas. They can breed most of the year, the chicks "squabs" are fed on pigeon's milk, which is secreted by the parent's crop. They're quite timid, easily frightened away from the bird table.
