Pink
Clematis montana rubra growing over a fence. This is a bit of a thug of a plant, it grows very quickly and will swamp other plants if it's given the chance, but even so it looks really pretty when it's in flower for a couple of weeks each spring. .

Top-notch image, Ellie. I love the tones and texture of the background - it really complements the flowers.
Ellie, this is really lovely. I like that the colors are slightly muted and the background is grayish. It has a melancholy romance to it.
Stunning image. Well done Ellie. Love it. :o) John
Dunno what you have done to the DOF, but it works. I like the 'melancholy romance' association. Great composition as well.
Ellie: Easy to get the depth, the flower was a good few inches away from the fence
I agree I like the out of focus but still textured background, and the muted colours.
Fantastic composition! I love the various shades of pink in the petals.
Nice shot Ellie
Wonderful composition Ellie. The DOF is stunning!
This looks and feels so...zen, Ellie!
Ellie: Eh? Zen? Goodness me Ginnie, you'll have me thinking I'm thinking when I take my pictures!
Lovely picture, with lovely colours. It soft and delicate looks belie its real nature.
there is a minimalist feel to this Ellie. The plain wall but with texture provides a great backdrop to promote this little beauty. mal
Lovely colours, great composition, love the background...a very nice job here again.
"pretty...thug"...now that is an interesting concept!
Love the tones in this picture...and, the right-most bloom looks a little like a lotus flower.
Ellie: Ah, it's a thug because it grows so quickly and swamps anything in its path. This is a tendril growing into our garden from next door, once it's finished flowering it'll be chopped off because otherwise it'll take over.
Nicely isolated bunch of flowers Ellie, the magic number of three as well, and three bunches of leaves also. A very simple picture in which you have made the flowers stand out nicely from the OOF background.
It is a quick grower Ellie but so delicate to look at
Lovely shot.
Very pretty, delicate colours Ellie, and I like the out of focus background - it looks like some kind of textured fabric and sets off the flower beautifully.
Ingrid
Good choice of background. It looks almost like a colored etching. Nice!
I've never heard of a Clematis being called a thug before! Smashing picture!
Ellie: This one is!
A lovely shot Ellie. I see it in a good book for plant identification. Good colour, clarity and composition.
Pink indeed Ellie: they look rather like a very sober painting
Superb image and I'm not even a pink kinda girl
Ellie: No, I'm not really a pink kinda girl either, but this flower is so pretty, and on that day the leaves were so dark because it was overcast.
Really pretty. Great composition, especially background works for this shot!
