Grey Squirrel - Sciurus carolinensis

Oops! I've been caught out.

This little beastie is pretending to be a bird! It visits the bird table every day and is managing to keep itself in very good condition.

We've learned not to try to win the, "Squirrels mustn't eat the bird food" battle, otherwise the bird feeders end up somewhere down the garden because squirrels are both quite strong and quite determined. We make sure there's plenty of food for them to reach.

The apple is pushed onto a nail that's proud of the bird table, one large apple (doesn't have to be best quality) lasts several days and is a tasty treat for the bird visitors too.
Thanks to Coolpix / Liam Beattie for the idea
