Fly Agaric
A change from birds to share a collection of pictures of Fly Agaric toadstools, at various stages of development and decay. All the pictures were taken last autumn around the New Forest.
These toadstools are poisonous, they should not be eaten; after touching them it's important to wash your hands before eating or drinking anything.

did you find any little fairies hiding under those mushrooms? very nice collections of shots ellie. my favourite would have to be the one on the top left.
Ellie: No fairies this time Genevieve
Interesting mushrooms. Like on the fairy tales (we have not these characters in Brazil)
Beautiful, colourful fungi, and they look great in your montage format.
What a nice collage, Ellie. (You and Neil both have been playing around, I see.) I have never seen toadstools like this except in your pics. How very fascinating, especially to know they're poisonous. I sure hope the wee creatures know!
What a beautiful collage. Even though they are poisonous, you are lucky to have them around. They are so colourful and make great photos!
Very nice! This kind of mushroom (or similar ones) also grow in Italy, where I live. I love to go in the wood to collect 'porcini' mushrooms, and I often see these ones as well, but... it's better to leave them where they are! Nice pictures!
Ellie: I've never had the courage to pick any wild mushrooms, because I'm not very confident of identifying them. These are obvious, others are less so. But, I enjoy wild mushrooms, as long as I get them from the shops.
Oh nice to see, but I won't taste them Ellie !!!
Great collection Ellie and a complementary, well-balanced composition. I went to a talk on flower photography once. The speaker had a wonderful collection and he stressed the importance of 'gardening' before taking the shot. He also suggested having a cheap water sprayer to mist the subject before taking the shot.

Ellie: You're absolutely right about the 'gardening' Ron. It's something I often need to do, with two of these toadstools the adjoining plants were embedded in the cap, so it couldn't be budged without damage, so I had to leave it all alone. I like the idea of a water spray, will have to try that out. Thanks for the tip
Very nice Ellie, and a good montage here. Colours are vivid.
About your question about my lens, yes I took most of my pictures with the 70/300 and I'm quite satisfied with the result. When I'm shooting flowers, I turn it on the macro mode. It's a great tool, not too heavy and which permits to go far !!! Have a nice week-end Ellie !
I love mushroom photos and have lots of them myself. I once saw hundreds from a Japanese photographer's site that were the best I'd ever seen. Alas, I did not bookmark it and have never been able to find it again. Lovely, Ellie.
Ellie: You an d me both Mary, I've got dozens and dozens of them from last autumn, I never seemed to get round to sharing them though. I hope you find that site again one day, I'd love to see it.
I think you may be interested to see Julia's picture on: http://julischka.shutterchance.com/photoblog/56835.htm . There is very interesting lecture about this mushroom - see also comments as they are educative too!
Lovelly pictures, I like the composition of all parts, you can get them published in a mushrooms guide
Ellie: Thanks Monika, yes, I did see tJulia's picture. When she shared it with us all this one was lined up for the next day, so I hurriedly changed it
... You find me a publisher and I'll give you a share of the fee ...
that is EXCELLNT>..like the montage ofdifferent colours...
Triffic. I wish I'd seen all these!
Ellie: Aha ... I remember where these were .. next autumn ...
I have heard of people boiling these in milk... Nice shots, Ellie!
A nice, if toxic collection. Isn't it funny how nature chooses to warn us with bright, vivid colors? The image on the upper right is fascinating - I've never seen anything like that before.
Nice collection Ellie
A great one Ellie ! I like very much your collage
Ellie: Thanks Zeb
Now you've got me, I love this collage! These mushrooms I've yet to see, so interesting and colorful!
They are so beautiful and colorful !
Great shots Ellie.
These shots seem to be a hit with the shutterchancers dont they ellie and i can see why?
Great idea for a subject and briliantly executed. Shroom -tastic
Ellie: I'm a little bemused really, but am pleased the it's been well received
Superb photos, Ellie. I envy you for living in a place humid enough to have fungi to photograph. I treasure specially the right bottom one
Wow, Ellie, that pretty composition of mushrooms. It is a perfect creation for a catalogue of these fungi! Good work.
Ellie: Thank you very much Jose.
That's quite a collection! Beautiful!
So where did you buy the 4 post cards to mount in a collage?
The striking reds make this a great picture. Love it. PS. I see you anti-spam thingy is gone.
Ellie: Blooming cheek!
Yes, the anti spam thing vanished yesterday, thank goodness
Did you know the Ancient Brits used these to brew a kind of tea? The men would sit around getting wasted from it, then pee into a vessel which would then be distibuted to & supped by the women & youths in it's more diluted form!
Good old days, eh? Yeeuch!
Wow! Those are great! It's a shame something so beautiful is also so harmful. I like how you've assembled the photos into a group
To view them as images, i like the right bottom one.
But they all great! The bizarre looks of these mushrooms took me away from the reality for a while.
Awesome awesome collage! The bottom right one is my favorite. It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, haha
I don't know that I'd even touch them lol. Nice colours. I'm really thinking more seriously about doing a collage (or a few). I like this.
