Buckland Rings; an Iron Age Hill Fort

This is an "outsider's view" of the Buckland RIngs near Lymington. Taken from about beneath the + - here - On the aerial view the rings are obscured by the leafy trees.

The Buckland RIngs form an Iron Age Hill Fort,open to the public with free access at any time and where locals often exercise their dogs. It's a lovely place to walk.

The picture was taken last Thursday, 15th March, late afternoon.

Wow, Ellie. This is quite an education from you (once again) since this is something brand new to me. I love hearing about such places, especially when they are at free access. Sometimes these places become ho-hum to to the locals who don't think twice about what they mean.

This really is lovely and very inviting. I would take my dog for a walk there (if I had one)!

I admire how the light on those tree trunks came out. For the last few days I have been trying to achieve something similar, but alas with limited success.

Ellie: I think the time of day helped Martin, but even so I'm very pleased with the way this one's come out.

And now we can choose for no-spam codes again. And the thumbnails are totally mixed up - Josie's bicycle is not a bicycle at all and so on. Even the green letters that says if it is a fresh pic are laying at stages. You had a swan up and no fresh pic indication. I have picked this up with a number of posts.

Great pic - you must be enjoying the e-400.

Ellie: Every time I go there I think of how it must have been, how many people it took to build the ridges and what it must have been like to defend the place.

Lovely! Wonderful colours. The trees almost look painted.

Ellie: I was incredibly pleased with the way this came out, I've always taken lousy landscapes. Maybe it's part of the magic of the place
